Revit 2027 requires 64-bit Windows 11, an Intel or AMD processor with a base clock of at least 2 GHz and 16 GB of RAM. [Autodesk's Revit 2027 requirements page](https://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2027/ENU/?caas=caas%2Fsfdcarticles%2Fsfdcarticles%2FSystem-requirements-for-Revit-2027-products.html&ref=revitclub.net) specifies DirectX 11 with Shader Model 5 and recommends 4 GB of video memory at entry level. Installation needs 30 GB; Autodesk recommends 100 GB free for temporary files. I'd start a new workstation purchase at the 32 GB Value tier because Autodesk sizes the 16 GB tier for a typical session on one model of about 300 MB; upgrades and loaded links can need more memory.

For a Mac, Autodesk lists Windows 11 in Parallels Desktop, with separate requirements for the Mac and the virtual machine. Revit 2026 and 2025 have their own Windows and processor requirements, so use the section for the release you plan to install.

## Revit 2027 Minimum, Value and Performance side by side

Autodesk splits the full Revit 2027 into three configurations and names each by purpose: Minimum is the entry-level configuration, Value balances price and performance, and Performance is meant for large, complex models. The rows below come from [the Revit 2027 product line requirements](https://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2027/ENU/?caas=caas%2Fsfdcarticles%2Fsfdcarticles%2FSystem-requirements-for-Revit-2027-products.html&ref=revitclub.net), and every value in the table belongs to Revit 2027 only.

| Revit 2027 | Minimum | Value | Performance |

A few lines are the same on all three tiers and sit outside the table: an MS-Mouse compliant pointing device, .NET 10, Chrome, Edge or Firefox as the browser, and an internet connection for license registration and prerequisite component download. If your collaboration workflows go through Desktop Connector, Revit 2027 requires Desktop Connector 16.x or later, and versions 15.8 and earlier are not supported.

The processor line is identical on every tier. Autodesk asks for a 2 GHz or higher base core clock, recommends the highest single-core base clock you can get, and adds that Revit products will use multiple cores for many tasks, without naming a core count. The tiers part ways on memory, video memory and screen size, not on the chip.

### Choose memory for the model and the views

Autodesk's 16, 32 and 64 GB figures are usually sufficient for a typical editing session on a *single* model of about 300 MB, 600 MB or 1 GB on disk. They are estimates from Autodesk's internal testing and customer reports, and individual models vary. A model from an older release can need extra memory for its one-time upgrade. Use the file size as a starting point, then allow for linked models and other applications; the table is not a guarantee for a whole coordinated project.

### Accelerated Graphics has a higher recommendation

[Accelerated Graphics is production-ready for modeling and navigation in Revit 2027](https://help.autodesk.com/cloudhelp/2027/ENU/Revit-WhatsNew/files/GUID-1F8469C6-386C-455A-9BD3-7E4ECC8BDA31.htm?ref=revitclub.net). For the Value and Performance tiers, the requirements table recommends at least 8 GB of video memory and requires OpenGL 4.5 or higher. A 6 GB card meets the standard Value row but falls below that graphics recommendation.

For an optimal experience, [Autodesk recommends at least 64 GB of system RAM and an 8 GB graphics card for Accelerated Graphics](https://help.autodesk.com/cloudhelp/2027/ENU/Revit-DocumentPresent/files/GUID-0AD72A01-3100-4EB2-997A-1CA3F0982DAF.htm?ref=revitclub.net). Enabling it in several views can increase memory use, and it cannot fix a RAM shortage. That is a separate recommendation from Revit's 16 GB minimum. It is not supported in Parallels Desktop or other virtual machines.

In [Autodesk's published 300-frame walkthrough example with all RVT links loaded](https://help.autodesk.com/cloudhelp/2027/ENU/Revit-WhatsNew/files/GUID-1F8469C6-386C-455A-9BD3-7E4ECC8BDA31.htm?ref=revitclub.net), playback takes 198 seconds in a standard Revit 2027 view, 50 seconds with the Revit 2026 Tech Preview and 38 seconds with Revit 2027 Accelerated Graphics. These are three view modes in one sample, rather than a comparison of graphics-card models. For a purchase centered on accelerated views, I'd budget for the 64 GB/8 GB recommendation because both system memory and GPU memory are involved.

## Revit LT 2027 has one listed configuration

Revit LT 2027 uses the same Windows 11, processor, 16 GB RAM and standard graphics figures as full Revit's Minimum tier. It also lists .NET 10, 30 GB for installation and 100 GB of free temporary space recommended. Desktop Connector 16.x or later is required when that collaboration workflow is used.

LT differs in two places: its Accelerated Graphics row recommends 6 GB or more of video memory and requires OpenGL 4.5 or higher, and its pointing-device row also accepts 3Dconnexion devices. The workstation figures alone do not decide whether LT can do your work; compare the feature limits in [Revit LT versus Revit](https://revitclub.net/revit-lt-vs-revit/).

## Cloud Worksharing and Revit Server add their own lines

Two blocks on the 2027 page only apply when a team shares models. The [Revit Cloud Worksharing and Revit Server 2027 sections](https://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2027/ENU/?caas=caas%2Fsfdcarticles%2Fsfdcarticles%2FSystem-requirements-for-Revit-2027-products.html&ref=revitclub.net) sit below the workstation tiers, and their requirements apply to different machines.

Revit Cloud Worksharing needs local resources on each user's computer. Disk space is three times the space equivalent RVT files take for all the cloud workshared projects that user opens. As a worked example, a user on four cloud projects whose RVT files total 2 GB would plan for about 6 GB. The connection must deliver a symmetrical 5, 10 or 25 Mbps per machine on burst transfers, for Minimum, Value and Performance in that order.

Autodesk also recommends keeping Revit Personal Accelerator running on users' machines even while Revit itself is closed. It keeps the latest changes of each recently opened cloud model up to date locally, so those changes do not have to download each time the model opens.

Revit Server 2027 is server software for teams, and its hardware requirements describe a server rather than a workstation. It runs on 64-bit Windows Server 2025, 2022 or 2019, with Internet Information Server 7.0 or later and .NET Framework 4.8.x, and its tiers read:

- Processor: 4+ cores at 2.6 GHz+ for Minimum, 6+ cores at 2.6 GHz+ for Value, 6+ cores at 3.0 GHz+ for Performance.
- Memory: 8, 16 or 32 GB RAM, the same whether the server has under or over 100 concurrent users.
- Drives for under 100 concurrent users: 7,200+, 10,000+ or 15,000+ RPM. At 100 users and more: 10,000+ RPM, 15,000+ RPM or a high-speed RAID array.

## Read your own PC's values in Windows 11

Start with the Windows version, processor model and installed RAM in Settings. Windows also shows the GPU memory and free disk space. Processor base clock and GPU feature support need the manufacturer's specifications as well as the local values below.

1. **Windows edition and 64-bit.** Right-click Start, choose Settings, select System and then About, as [Microsoft's steps for checking your Windows version](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/experience/find-information-about-your-windows-device?ref=revitclub.net) describe. Under Windows specifications the edition should name Windows 11, and under Device specifications the entry for the system should say 64-bit. Windows 10 or a 32-bit installation does not meet the published Revit 2027 OS requirement; the older-release section below shows which Windows versions Revit 2026 and 2025 list. Microsoft ended standard Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025; that is a support boundary, not a statement that an existing PC stops working.
2. **Processor and memory.** The same About page lists the processor type and the installed RAM under Device specifications. Look for an Intel or AMD processor and 16 GB or more, then check the base clock separately. Microsoft's page names the processor model, not its base clock, so look that model up on its maker's product page and compare the base clock with Autodesk's 2 GHz floor.
3. **Graphics memory.** Open Task Manager and select the Performance tab. Microsoft's DirectX team explains that [GPUs are listed in the Performance tab's left panel](https://devblogs.microsoft.com/directx/gpus-in-the-task-manager/?ref=revitclub.net), with video memory split into dedicated memory reserved for the GPU and shared system memory that the GPU or CPU can use. Read the dedicated memory capacity, keeping it separate from shared system memory. Autodesk recommends 4 GB at Minimum and lists 6 GB for Value or 8 GB for Performance. This view needs a WDDM 2.0 or later graphics driver, so a missing GPU entry can mean the driver is older than that.
4. **DirectX 11 and Shader Model 5.** Typing dxdiag in the search box opens the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, and its System tab shows the DirectX version under System Information, as [Microsoft's dxdiag instructions](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/display-graphics/which-version-of-directx-is-on-your-pc?ref=revitclub.net) put it. That number belongs to Windows, not to the card, so it does not prove the card handles DirectX 11 with Shader Model 5\. Check the card model against its maker's specifications, then confirm with Revit's Hardware tab after installing.
5. **Free disk space.** Select File Explorer on the taskbar and then This PC; [Microsoft's guide to freeing drive space](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/experience/storage-filemanagement/free-up-drive-space-in-windows?ref=revitclub.net) shows the available space under Devices and drives. Allow 30 GB on the installation drive, and keep 100 GB free for temporary files as Autodesk recommends.
6. **Screen resolution.** Go to Start, Settings, System, Display and open the list in the Display resolution row; Microsoft's [steps for changing screen resolution](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/display-graphics/change-your-screen-resolution-and-layout-in-windows?ref=revitclub.net) suggest staying with the entry marked (Recommended). Compare that entry with 1280 x 1024 for Minimum. A 1920 x 1080 screen clears the Minimum and Value lines but sits below the 1920 x 1200 Performance line.
7. **Internet.** Plan the install for a time when the PC is online, because Revit 2027 uses the connection for license registration and to download prerequisite components.

To compare several drives in Settings, open [System > Storage](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/experience/find-information-about-your-windows-device?ref=revitclub.net), then Advanced storage settings > Storage used on other drives. Read each drive's free-space figure separately when checking the installation and temporary-file space requirements.

[![Windows 11 Storage used on other drives with 92.6 GB free on Local Disk C and 126 GB free on New Volume D](https://storage.ghost.io/c/85/87/8587d5e4-79c0-44e6-83d8-329eb0b5abe6/content/images/2026/11/windows-storage-drives-r2-dda154df7185.webp)](https://storage.ghost.io/c/85/87/8587d5e4-79c0-44e6-83d8-329eb0b5abe6/content/images/2026/11/windows-storage-drives-r2-dda154df7185.webp?ref=revitclub.net)

Read the free-space figure for each drive separately. In this example C: has 92.6 GB free, below Autodesk’s recommended 100 GB for temporary files.

### After installing: the Hardware tab in Revit

Once Revit 2027 is on the PC, it can check the graphics side itself. In [Revit's help topic on the Hardware tab](https://help.autodesk.com/cloudhelp/2027/ENU/Revit-Customize/files/GUID-A5521BDF-3E76-43E2-9114-B50A964C4995.htm?ref=revitclub.net), the route is File tab > Options > Hardware tab, where Hardware Setup shows the video card, the driver version and a status. Since Revit 2023.1 that status reports whether the hardware meets Revit system requirements, and a green checkmark after DirectX, Shader Model and Video Memory confirms each one meets the recommended value. A missing checkmark names the line to look at.

The same tab holds Use hardware acceleration, which is available only when the card supports DirectX 11, and Draw visible elements only, which needs Shader Model 5.0 or higher with hardware acceleration switched on. With ordinary hardware acceleration off, Revit uses [WARP (Windows Advanced Rasterization Platform), which Autodesk describes as generally slower](https://help.autodesk.com/cloudhelp/2027/ENU/Revit-Customize/files/GUID-0162E4FA-AC42-419F-B11A-7DFC99DFE1CD.htm?ref=revitclub.net).

[![Revit Hardware controls: Use hardware acceleration requires DirectX 11; Draw visible elements only requires Shader Model 5.0 and hardware acceleration](https://storage.ghost.io/c/85/87/8587d5e4-79c0-44e6-83d8-329eb0b5abe6/content/images/2026/11/ui-hardware-controls-r2-e6598614fae8.webp)](https://storage.ghost.io/c/85/87/8587d5e4-79c0-44e6-83d8-329eb0b5abe6/content/images/2026/11/ui-hardware-controls-r2-e6598614fae8.webp?ref=revitclub.net)

Use hardware acceleration needs DirectX 11\. Draw visible elements only also needs Shader Model 5.0 and hardware acceleration. Open the image for the full-size controls.

## When your PC falls short of a line

Identify the requirement that the machine misses before choosing an upgrade. RAM capacity affects the models you can keep open; DirectX support controls whether ordinary hardware acceleration is available. A machine outside the listed OS or processor configuration is a poor basis for a new Revit 2027 purchase.

- **Windows 10 or 32-bit Windows.** Revit 2027 does not list it. The choices are moving the PC to 64-bit Windows 11, which is a separate job with its own checks, or working in a release whose page still lists your Windows, keeping in mind that Microsoft ended standard Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025.
- **Memory below the tier you need.** Autodesk relates RAM capacity to single-model size: 16 GB for about 300 MB, 32 GB for about 600 MB, 64 GB for about 1 GB. Below 16 GB the PC misses the Minimum; between tiers, compare your largest model with those figures and leave room for the one-time upgrade of older models.
- **Processor clock or cores.** Beyond the 2027 page's single-core advice, [Revit Help's CPU recommendations](https://help.autodesk.com/cloudhelp/2027/ENU/Revit-Customize/files/GUID-718EFE7C-1F2C-4543-8A6F-225E60E23951.htm?ref=revitclub.net) suggest 3+ GHz processors with multiple cores and name multi-threaded features such as vector printing, DWG and DWF export, wall join representation, opening and saving files, point cloud display and MEP background computations.
- **Graphics.** [Revit Help's video card recommendations](https://help.autodesk.com/cloudhelp/2027/ENU/Revit-Customize/files/GUID-E4D83EDC-BBE9-467A-A567-611721591D3F.htm?ref=revitclub.net) say dedicated video cards are strongly recommended. A card below Autodesk's DirectX 11 minimum leaves the hardware acceleration setting unavailable, so Revit falls back on the slower WARP path described above.
- **Disk.** Free space comes first: 30 GB to install and 100 GB recommended for temp files. On drive type, [Revit Help's hard drive recommendations](https://help.autodesk.com/cloudhelp/2027/ENU/Revit-Customize/files/GUID-680C6844-091B-44FC-84A0-69FC9EC7E465.htm?ref=revitclub.net) rank drive speed below the processor and RAM, with one exception: an SSD significantly improves view performance when you work with point clouds.

Check the requirements of any rendering plug-in or real-time viewer separately before choosing a graphics card. Meeting Revit's own table does not establish the requirements of another product.

## Autodesk's Mac configuration uses Parallels Desktop

The [Apple configuration for Revit 2027 and Revit LT 2027](https://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2027/ENU/?caas=caas%2Fsfdcarticles%2Fsfdcarticles%2FSystem-requirements-for-Revit-2027-products.html&ref=revitclub.net) uses Windows 11 inside Parallels Desktop for Mac, which Autodesk marks as recommended. The Mac itself needs:

- macOS 13.7 (Ventura) or newer.
- 32 GB of memory on the Mac.
- A quad-core Intel Core i7 or higher Intel Mac, or a Mac with any Apple silicon chip.
- At least 40 GB of free disk space, with 100 GB recommended.

Inside Parallels, the Windows virtual machine needs:

- Windows 11, for Apple silicon chips or Intel processors.
- 16 GB of RAM assigned to the virtual machine, half of the Mac's listed 32 GB.
- At least 4 GB of video memory dedicated to the Windows virtual machine. From Parallels Desktop for Mac version 14, Autodesk advises Automatic graphics memory.
- At Retina display resolutions on macOS, any Retina Resolution options in Parallels Desktop turned off, so Windows and Revit get the proper DPI.

[![Revit 2027 Mac configuration with a 32 GB RAM host containing a Windows 11 virtual machine assigned 16 GB RAM](https://storage.ghost.io/c/85/87/8587d5e4-79c0-44e6-83d8-329eb0b5abe6/content/images/2026/11/mac-host-vm-r2-92b54a2ebe9f.webp)](https://storage.ghost.io/c/85/87/8587d5e4-79c0-44e6-83d8-329eb0b5abe6/content/images/2026/11/mac-host-vm-r2-92b54a2ebe9f.webp?ref=revitclub.net)

Autodesk lists 32 GB of RAM on the Mac and 16 GB assigned to the Windows virtual machine. Accelerated Graphics is not supported in Parallels Desktop.

Two things from the PC tiers do not carry over. Accelerated Graphics is not supported with Parallels Desktop for Mac, and the graphics line is the Parallels Desktop virtual display adapter without Revit's Use hardware acceleration option. The requirements page describes this Parallels configuration rather than a native macOS installation. Virtualization also has to be expressly permitted by the terms governing your Autodesk offering.

## On Revit 2026 or 2025, use that release's page

Older releases keep their own pages, and their lines differ from 2027 in places that matter. [Autodesk's list of requirement pages for each Revit release](https://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2025/ENU/?caas=caas%2Fsfdcarticles%2Fsfdcarticles%2FSystem-requirements-for-Autodesk-Revit-products.html&ref=revitclub.net) runs from Revit 2027 back to Revit 2018\. Select the exact release before comparing a CPU, operating system or virtual machine.

- **Revit 2026.** [The Revit 2026 requirements](https://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2026/ENU/?caas=caas%2Fsfdcarticles%2Fsfdcarticles%2FSystem-requirements-for-Revit-2026-products.html&ref=revitclub.net) list 64-bit Windows 10 v1809 or later or Windows 11, and .NET 8, with .NET version 10 required from Revit 2026.5 onward. Revit Server 2026 runs on Windows Server 2022 and 2019, and the Parallels host for the Mac route is macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) or newer with 16 GB of memory. The rest of its Minimum, Value and Performance lines read the same as Revit 2027: a 2 GHz base clock, 16, 32 and 64 GB of memory for models of about 300 MB, 600 MB and 1 GB, 4, 6 and 8 GB of video memory, and 30 GB to install plus 100 GB of free temporary space recommended. Accelerated Graphics is a Tech Preview in 2026; the 2027 feature is production-ready. Windows, .NET, Revit Server and the Mac host also differ.
- **Revit 2025.** [The Revit 2025 requirements](https://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2025/ENU/?caas=caas%2Fsfdcarticles%2Fsfdcarticles%2FSystem-requirements-for-Revit-2025-products.html&ref=revitclub.net) list 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11 and 30 GB of free disk space, and the page still carries Citrix and VMware configurations. Revit Server 2025 also accepts Windows Server 2016.

The 2025 processor line differs in kind from the 2027 one. It names chip families, Intel i-Series, Xeon, AMD Ryzen and Ryzen Threadripper PRO, at 2.5 GHz or higher, where Revit 2027 lists Intel or AMD processors with a base clock of at least 2 GHz. Read each release's figures on its own page rather than carrying them across. The other release and license pages on this site are grouped under [Setup, licenses & versions](https://revitclub.net/tag/setup-versions/).

## Once the PC passes

Once the PC meets the hardware and operating system requirements for your chosen release, continue to download and install Revit. Sign in, choose the release in your account and run the installer.
